Blue Jays Ink 14 International Free Agents
The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have signed 14 international free agents, among them SS YELTSIN GUDINO, CF FREDDY RODRIGUEZ from Venezuela and SS JESUS RAMIREZ and SS MIGUEL ALMONTE from the Dominican Republic.
GUDINO, 16, is recognized the top young shortstop out of Venezuela and ranking as the 8th best overall international prospect by Baseball America. The 6-0, 150 pound shortstop excelled at the 15U World Championship last August in Mexico batting .458 with a .611 OBP and a .833 SLG and has continued to show an advanced hitting approach for his age.
RODRIGUEZ, 16, also attends Carlos Guillen's academy as does Gudino, and stands out for his baseball instincts. At 6-1, 180 pounds has shown above average speed, ranking him the 18th best international prospect by Baseball America.
