Pirates Charities on ROOT SPORTS Auction highlights Pirates eighth homestand

The Pirates return to PNC Park from a quick three-game road trip to Chicago's north side where they visited the Cubs at Wrigley. This homestand the Pirates welcome the Oakland Athletics and New York Mets for three games apiece leading up to the 2013 All-Star break. The six-game homestand will be highlighted by the Pirates Charities on ROOT SPORTS Auction on Tuesday, July 9 and postgame fireworks on Saturday, July 13.

Monday, July 8, 2013 - Pirates vs. Oakland Athletics (7:05 p.m.)

  • You Score as Bucs Score: Thanks to the fan-value "You Score as the Bucs Score" promotion select tickets for today's game were placed on sale for as low as $18. During the weekend series at Chicago from July 5- 7, the Pirates scored a total of 10 runs and as part of the promotion, the club discounted select tickets for today's game $1 for every run scored. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 - Pirates vs. Oakland Athletics (7:05 p.m.)

  • Pirates Charities on ROOT SPORTS Auction: Tonight the Pirates are proud to again partner with ROOT SPORTS to host the Pirates Charities on ROOT SPORTS Auction at PNC Park in the Rivertowne Brewing Hall of Fame Club. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the telecast begins at 6 p.m. Fans can bid on unique auction items in person or over the phone by calling (412) 325-4888 starting at 5:30 p.m. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase VIP and VIP-PLUS bags for $125 and $550, respectively. Each bag will include an autographed baseball, Pirates baseball tickets, and an assortment of goodies including Pirates merchandise. The VIP-PLUS bags will also include an authentic game jersey autographed by a current Pirates player of your choice. Proceeds from the auction will be used to support Pirates Charities ongoing support of Miracle League programs throughout the areas in which the Pirates have a presence.
  • Bucs Ticket Tuesday: Today at NOON the Pirate Parrot will be at the Giant Eagle in Wexford (9805 McKnight Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237) with 50 pairs of FREE tickets as part of the Pirates "Bucs Ticket Tuesday" social media promotion. The first 50 people to meet the Parrot will receive two free tickets to an upcoming game.

  • Pups in the Park: Fans can bring their pooch to the park as the Pirates and Rachel Ray Nutrish present Pup Nights at PNC Park.   • ALS Awareness Day: Tonight the Pirates have donated more than 200 tickets to patients and families affected by ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. There will be a pregame on-field ceremony with members from three Pirates community partners, ALS TDI, ALS of Western PA and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Thursday, July 11, 2013 - Off Day

  • Pirates Charities Golf Outing: Today at 10 a.m. Pirates Charities will host the 8th annual Pirates Charities Golf Classic, presented by West Penn Allegheny Health System, at Fox Chapel Golf Club. The sold out event will be cochaired by Pirates and Pirates Charities President Frank Coonelly and Dr. Patrick DeMeo, Allegheny General Hospital Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery. Committee chair this year is Harold Balk of Eckert Seamans. At the event, over 120 participants will have the unique opportunity to spend the day with current and former Pirates players, broadcasters and front office executives while supporting the many and varied efforts of Pirates Charities throughout the year.

Friday, July 12, 2013 - Pirates vs. New York Mets (7:05 p.m.)

  • Friday Block Party: Tonight is another Friday Budweiser Block Party on Federal Street. Fans will enjoy live music featuring Jimbo and the Soupbones and can party on the street with food & beer sales. Pirates alumni Rennie Stennett will be the special guest bartender at the Budweiser Bar located on Federal Street.
  • Free Shirt Friday: The Pirates popular Free Shirt Friday continues as all fans, with paid admission, will receive a free Pirates tee courtesy of Cottonelle and Viva.
  • Make a Wish: The Pirates and concession partner Levy Restaurants will team up with Make-A-Wish to make 13-year-old Nick Hedderick's wish come true as he will be the honorary bat boy for tonight's game. Nick will meet players including his favorite player, Andrew McCutchen, on the field during Pirates batting practice; he will accompany Clint Hurdle to home plate in the exchange of lineup cards before the game and more during his visit. He will enjoy the game from special seats provided by the Pirates and Levy.

Saturday, July 13, 2013 - Pirates vs. New York Mets (7:15 p.m.)

  • Star Appearance: Today Starling Marte will greet fans and sign autographs from Noon to 1:30 p.m. at the PNC Bank location in Peters Township (3850 Washington Road in McMurry, Pa).
  • Meet The Fort: Today from 11 a.m. to Noon, Michael "The Fort" McKenry will be greeting fans and signing autographs at the Bethel Park Giant Eagle (5055 Library Road, Suite 5).
  • Family Fun Run/Walk: Pirates pitcher Tony Watson will be joined by former Steeler Alan Faneca and other Pirates and local Pittsburgh celebrities for the Pirates Family Fun Run/Walk for Epilepsy. The event will take place at 8 a.m. and begins with a run/walk course that will wind through the city. Participants may then move on to a one-of-a-kind tailgate party, where they can enjoy food and beverages donated by local sponsors. Prizes are awarded to the teams and individuals that raise the most money. All participants are eligible for a free ticket to a baseball game, a commemorative T-shirt, and more. Sunday, June 16, 2013 - Pirates vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (1:35 p.m.) - Kids Day & Father's Day

  • Kids Day: Come down early and join the fun as the #1 Cochran Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, face painting, information about the Bucaroos Kids Club and more.
  • Kids Tumbler: All kids 14 and younger with paid admission receive a kids Tumbler cup presented By Mrs. T's Pierogies.
  • Kids Run the Bases: Kids attending today's game are invited to stick around after to run the bases on the field at PNC Park.
  • Kids Clinic: Today is the second Chevy Youth Clinic at PNC Park. The private event will take place on the field starting at 8 a.m. with members of the Pirates coaching staff including Jay Bell, Euclides Rojas, Dave Jauss, Jeff Banister and bullpen catcher Heberto Andrade. The Pirates coaches will instruct 150 youth baseball/softball players ages six to 14.

MLB RBI Regionals
Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 21 is the MLB RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) Regionals in Harrisburg, PA. The Pittsburgh RBI will send two teams to the regional tournament as one Junior Boys and one Senior Boys teams will participate in the three-day event. Pittsburgh RBI, run thru the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania, is supported by the Pirates and Pirates Charities and provides equipment, coaching, educational programs and the opportunity to participate in the City of Pittsburgh BIG League sports program to more than 900 youth athletes. The Pirates Community Baseball Center, which officially opened in February 2007, hosts over 4,500 youth each year. This facility, which is part of the Shadyside Boys & Girls Club, is designed to assist Pittsburgh RBI youth develop baseball and softball fundamentals and techniques.

Big League Championships at PNC Park
Wednesday, July 24 and Thursday, July 25 the Pirates will host the Citiparks Pittsburgh Big League Championships at PNC Park for Pony, Colt, Little League and Slo-Pitch softball leagues. Special seating for fans will be provided with concession stands and bathrooms open both days in the respective areas. The PNC Park scoreboard will be on for all games and players will be posted for all to see. The schedule for games is as follows: Wednesday, July 24: 4 p.m. 12U Slo-Pitch, 6 p.m. 15U Slo-Pitch, 8 p.m. Little League. Thursday, July 25: 4 p.m. Pony League, 6 p.m. Colt League, 8 p.m. Super Colt.

Stand Up 2 Cancer
The Pirates and Pirates Charities will host Stand Up 2 Cancer Night at PNC Park on Friday, August 16 vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ticket packages for the promotion are $40 with $10 from every package sold going directly to the Stand Up 2 Cancer fund. Participants will be seated in the Bleacher Reserved section of PNC Park and at a designated time during the game will have the opportunity to stand up in support of a loved one affected by cancer. Ticket packages include: one ticket in the Stand Up 2 Cancer section, a complimentary Stand Up 2 Cancer cap, entry into the 'Stand Up 2 Cancer with the Pirates' raffle and more. Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffles
New for the 2013 season are the Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffles. The 50/50 Raffles will take place during each Pirates home game throughout the season. Raffle ticket prices are three (3) tickets for $5, 10 tickets for $10 and 40 tickets for $20 with all proceeds benefiting Pirates Charities. Raffle ticket sales close after the last out in the sixth inning. The winning number will be drawn and announced in the 8th inning and the winner will receive 50 percent of the total pot. Winning numbers will also be posted on pirates.com/5050raffle within three business days.

Hunt Auctions
The Hunt Auctions kiosk, specializing in sports memorabilia, including game-used and authenticated items, is located behind section 125 on the main concourse at PNC Park. Unique items are available each homestand and fans will have the opportunity to purchase items at the kiosk or at pirates.com/authentics. This homestand features:

Wins for Kids
During the 2013 season, Pirates Charities will again partner with manager Clint Hurdle, his wife Karla and ROOT SPORTS to present the Wins for Kids fundraising campaign. The campaign encourages fans to donate a dollar amount for every Pirates win during the season or make a one-time donation to the program. All funds raised will benefit Pirates Charities and the Children's Institute of Pittsburgh's Prader-Willi Syndrome Program. Library Night
Tuesday, July 30 is the 10th annual Library Night at PNC Park. Children between the ages of five and 18 can enter to win a chance to deliver the line-up card prior to the start of the game or change a base in the 3rd or 6th inning of the game. Also the library with the most members in attendance will receive a special appearance by a member of the 2013 Pittsburgh Pirates during the month of August. Cruise for a Cure
On Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20, the Pirate Parrot invites fellow motorcycle riders to join him for his 'Weekend Cruise to Cure Prostate Cancer' to benefit the Western PA Prostate Cancer Foundation. Interested riders will travel with the Pirate Parrot to Cincinnati for the Reds vs. Pirates game at Great American Ball Park on July 19. Participants will receive a Pirates Cruise to Cure Prostate Cancer T-Shirt and a game ticket. The Charity bike ride is in partnership with Pirates Charities and Mosites Motorsports with all proceeds benefiting the Western Pennsylvania Prostate Cancer Foundation. Dynamic Pricing Section
New for 2013, the Pirates have expanded their dynamic pricing system to include both the Bleacher Reserve and Upper Bleacher Reserve sections of PNC Park. Tickets for the 2,400 seats, located in left field, will be placed on sale 10-days prior to each home game. The initial ticket price will then be adjusted- both lower and higher- in real time, based on several factors. As of July 8, this homestand features $12 Upper Bleacher Reserved tickets for the Friday, July 12 and Sunday, July 14 games vs. the New York Mets.
