JetBlue Airways Sends Red Sox Foundation Youth Ballplayers to New York for Northeast Regional Tournament

BOSTON, MA - The Red Sox Foundation and JetBlue, the official airline of the Boston Red Sox, will send 40 Boston teens and coaches from the foundation's Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program to New York tomorrow, July 10, to compete in Major League Baseball's 4-day Northeast Regional RBI qualifying tournament taking place July 10-13.

The 30 players selected for the All-Star Tournament include one girls softball team with players ranging in age from 13-18, and one boys junior baseball team, ages 13-15. Players in the Northeast Regional Tournament in New York will complete for the chance to participate in the World Series championship tournaments in Minnesota along with the winners from eight other regions.

The Red Sox Foundation's RBI program serves children and teens playing on inner city teams, and seeks to use their love of baseball to promote healthy choices and valuable life skills, including nonviolent conflict resolution, resistance to drugs and alcohol, and educational achievement. Wise Snacks and Poland Spring are also sponsors of the Red Sox Foundation's RBI program, supplying uniforms for all 29 Boston area inner city teams supported by the Red Sox Foundation.
