Carolina RHP Nick Pasquale wins Player of the Week Honors

The Cleveland Indians today announced Single-A Carolina RHP NICK PASQUALE has been named the Indians Minor League Player of the Week for July 21-28.

Pasquale, 22, went 2-0 without allowing a single run on just 8 hits through 13.0 innings in 2 starts during the week. On July 21, he allowed just 5 hits over 6.0 shutout innings and earned the win in his start vs. Wilmington. He followed that up with another scoreless performance on July 26 vs. Winston-Salem, this time allowing just 3 hits and striking out 3. Through his first 5 starts in the month of July, Pasquale is 3-1 with a 2.78 ERA (7 ER/22.2 IP).

Pasquale started the season as a reliever for the Lake County Captains and limited opposing hitters to a .208 (16-77) average against, including a .175 mark (7-40) against left-handed batters. Pasquale pitched to a 2.18 ERA (5 ER/20.2) before his promotion to Carolina on May 13. Combined between the two stops this year he is 3-6 with a 3.80ERA in 23 games/15 starts (85.1IP, 92H, 36ER, 2HR).

The 6-0", 190-pound righty was originally drafted by the Indians in the 20th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Diablo Valley Community College in California. Pasquale went 3-0 with a 2.17 ERA (7 ER/29.0 IP) over his last 9 games for Lake County in 2012.
