Royals' Minor League Hitting Coach Tommy Gregg tabbed Hitting Coach for Arizona Fall League

KANSAS CITY, MO (July 30, 2013) - The Arizona Fall League announced today that Omaha Storm Chasers' hitting coach Tommy Gregg will serve in the same capacity for the Peoria Javelinas during the 2013 Arizona Fall League. Gregg will serve on a coaching staff under Jim Pankovits, the Triple-A manager in the Seattle Mariners' system, who was named Peoria's field manager for the Fall League.

Gregg, who is in his fifth season as hitting coach for the Storm Chasers, also worked in the Royals' organization at the Double-A level from 2007-08 and was Kansas City's minor league outfield coordinator in 2009. He also worked five seasons as the hitting coach for Memphis (AAA) in the St. Louis Cardinals' system before joining KC. He has also spent time in the Atlanta Braves' organization as a coach with Macon (A) and Myrtle Beach (A-Advanced).

He spent nine seasons in the Major Leagues with Pittsburgh (1987-88), Atlanta (1988-92, 1997), Cincinnati (1993) and Florida (1995). Gregg was a member of the Braves' back-to-back N.L. Championship teams in 1991 and '92. He led Major League pinch hitters in RBI (17), home runs (4) and batting average (.353) in 1990 and won two minor league batting titles (Double-A in 1987 and Triple-A in 1997).
