Padres reinstate RHP Sean O'Sullivan from paternity leave

Option RHP Miles Mikolas to Triple-A Tucson

The San Diego Padres today announced that they have reinstated right-handed pitcher Sean O'Sullivan from paternity leave and have optioned right-hander Miles Mikolas to Triple-A Tucson. Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcement.

O'Sullivan, 25, was placed on paternity leave on July 30. He and his wife, Sabrina, welcomed their first child - a baby girl, Hailey Marie -- yesterday, Wednesday, July 31. In four games, three starts, for the Padres this season, the San Diego native has gone 0-2 with a 3.72 ERA (8 ER, 19.1 IP). 

Mikolas, 24, was recalled from Tucson on July 30 for his fourth stint with the Padres this season. The right-hander has worked in two games total for San Diego this year, working a scoreless 1.2 innings. In 44 games for Tucson this season, he has gone 3-1 with 21 saves, a 2.86 ERA (16 ER, 50.1 IP) and 33 strikeouts against 15 walks. The Jupiter, Fla. native made his Major League debut for the Padres last season, going 2-1 with a 3.62 ERA (13 ER, 32.1 IP) and 23 strikeouts against 15 walks in 25 relief appearances.
