Rollie Fingers to be Featured in Labor Day Voices of the Game event

Labor Day means the start of the pennant push in the big leagues, and few pitchers know more about postseason success than Hall of Famer Rollie Fingers.

It's a match made in Cooperstown, and visitors to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum can experience the moment on Monday, Sept. 2 during a special Voices of the Game program at 10 a.m.

Fingers, a 1992 Hall of Fame inductee, the author of 341 career saves and the winner of the 1981 American League Cy Young Award and Most Valuable Player Award, will be in Cooperstown that week to serve as the Hall of Fame Ambassador for the traditional post-Labor Day Otesaga Hotel Seniors Open Pro-Am Sept. 3 in Cooperstown.

Fingers was a part of three World Series title teams with the Oakland A's from 1972-74, winning the 1974 World Series MVP award. He pitched in a total of five American League Championship Series with Oakland, and in 30 career postseason games went 4-4 with nine saves and 2.35 earned-run average.

Tickets for the Sept. 2 "Voices of the Game" program are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12. Tickets can be reserved by participants in the Hall of Fame's Membership Program starting Monday, Aug. 5 by calling 607-547-0397 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET. Any remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday. Aug. 26. The one-hour roundtable program will feature memorable stories from Fingers and a question-and-answer session with the audience.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week year round, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
