Texas Rangers Receive INF Adam Rosales on Waiver Claim from Oakland

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has received infielder Adam Rosales on a waiver claim from the Oakland A's.

Rosales, who will wear #9, will be added to the active roster for tonight's game with the A's in Oakland. The Rangers will make a corresponding roster move to make room for Rosales prior to Friday's game.

Rosales, 30, is batting .193 (26-135) with 5 doubles, 4 homers and 8 RBI in 50 games/34 starts with Oakland in 2013. The right-handed batter has seen action at shortstop (35 games/33 starts), second base (13 games), third base (2 games/1 start), and left field (1 game).

He opened 2013 on the disabled list with a strained left intercostal muscle and went 6-for-12 with a homer in 3 games on rehab assignment at Single-A Stockton before being activated on April 25. Rosales was designated for assignment on July 8 and outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento on July 12. He batted .211 with 6 RBI in 9 games for the River Cats before rejoining Oakland on July 24. Rosales was 0-for-5 in 2 games, last seeing action on July 30 (0-3 in start at SS), before he was designated for assignment by the A's on July 31.

Rosales has a career average of .220 with 19 homers and 76 RBI in 301 career major league games with Cincinnati (2008-09) and Oakland (2010-13). He set career bests with 7 homers and 31 RBI in 80 games with the A's in 2010. Rosales was a 12^th round selection of the Reds in the 2005 1^st Year Player Draft.

With the addition of Rosales, the Rangers are the 40-player limit on their major league roster.
