Twins to select contract of left-handed pitcher Andrew Albers

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced tonight that they will select the contract of left-handed pitcher Andrew Albers from Triple-A Rochester tomorrow. Albers made 22 starts for the Red Wings, going 11-5 with a 2.86 ERA (132.1 IP, 42 ER), 116 strikeouts, 32 walks and three complete games. 

Originally signed as a minor league free agent March 11, 2011, Albers spent parts of five seasons in the minor leagues, going 28-10, with a 2.64 ERA (395.2 IP, 116 ER) with 338 strikeouts and 80 walks. The North Battleford, Saskatchewan native, played for Team Canada in the World Baseball Classic, appearing in one game, allowing two runs on six hits in 3.0 innings pitched.

Albers will wear uniform number 63.
