Cleveland Indians to play host to Law Enforcement Appreciation Night Thursday at Progressive Field

The Indians and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund will hold a special Law Enforcement Appreciation Night Thursday at Progressive Field as the Indians complete a four-game series with the Detroit Tigers.

The event, in its second season at Progressive Field, will be dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of all law enforcement and correctional officers and their families.

"We are proud to be back in Cleveland for our second annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Night with the Tribe," said Craig W. Floyd, Chairman and CEO of the Memorial Fund. "Coming together at Progressive Field to honor our nation's law enforcement officers, while enjoying a fun night of baseball, is sure to be a great occasion -- and a great way to raise awareness and funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund."

The Memorial Fund is spearheading efforts to build the privately funded National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington, D.C., which will tell the story of American law enforcement through exhibits, collections, research, and education. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will benefit the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund in Washington, D.C. The Cleveland Police Department Honor Guard will present the colors during the national anthem, and Ohio police departments that lost an officer in 2012 - including Cleveland, Willoughby and Akron - will be honored during a special pregame ceremony.
