A’s claim IF Adam Rosales off waivers from Texas

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland Athletics have claimed infielder Adam Rosales off waivers from the Texas Rangers, the team announced today. The A’s 40-man roster is now full. A corresponding 25-man roster move will be made tomorrow when Rosales reports to Toronto.

Rosales was designated for assignment by the A’s on July 31 to clear a 25-man roster spot for infielder Alberto Callaspo, who was acquired in a trade from the Los Angeles Angels on July 30. He was then claimed off waivers by Texas last Friday and did not appear in a game before he was designated for assignment by the Rangers on Monday.

Rosales is hitting .193 with four home runs and eight RBI in 50 games with the A’s. He has appeared in 35 games at shortstop, 13 games at second base, two games at third base and one game in left field. Rosales also batted .211 in nine games with Triple-A Sacramento.
