White Sox option Charlie Leesman to Class AAA Charlotte

CHICAGO - Following tonight's second game of the doubleheader vs. Minnesota, the Chicago White Sox optioned left-handed pitcher Charlie Leesman to Class AAA Charlotte.

Leesman, 26, received a no decision tonight in his major-league debut against the Twins, allowing one run on four hits over 5.0 IP. He walked five batters and struck out eight, the most by a Sox pitcher in his debut since Ravelo Manzanillo also fanned eight on September 25, 1988 vs. Seattle (Elias).

Leesman, whose contract was purchased from Charlotte prior to today's first game, has gone 3-1 with a 3.47 ERA (28 ER/72.2 IP) and 64 strikeouts over 13 starts (seven quality) with the Knights.

With the move, the White Sox active roster returns to 25.
