Pirates to select contract of outfielder Andrew Lambo

The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that the club intends to select the contract of outfielder Andrew Lambo from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, August 13. A corresponding move on the 25- and 40-man rosters is also expected to be announced tomorrow.

Lambo, 25, has hit a combined .284 (124-for-436) with 24 doubles, five triples, 31 home runs and 97 RBI in 117 games between Double-A Altoona and Indianapolis this season. Entering the day on Monday, Lambo's 31 home runs were tied for the most in all of minor league baseball. He also currently ranks second in all of minor league baseball in total bases (251) and is tied for third in both RBI (97) and extra base hits (60).

The left-handed hitting Lambo was acquired by the Pirates from the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 31, 2010 along with pitcher James McDonald, in exchange for pitcher Octavio Dotel. Lambo would uniform #57 when he joins the Pirates.
