Blue Jays recall Goins
The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have recalled SS RYAN GOINS from Buffalo of the International League (AAA). INF MAICER IZTURIS has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left ankle sprain retro-active to August 21.
GOINS, 25, is batting .257 with 22 doubles, six home runs and 46 RBI for Buffalo this season in 111 games. The 5-10, 170 pound, left-handed hitter is in his 5th season of professional baseball after being selected in the 4th round of the 2009 draft. In 2012, Goins led the Eastern League in hits with 158.
IZTURIS, 32, has appeared in 107 games this season for Toronto, posting a .236 average with five home runs and 32 RBI.
