D-backs reinstate Chavez and Montero from 15-day disabled list, option Davidson and Gosewisch to Triple-A Reno

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) have reinstated infielder Eric Chavez and catcher Miguel Montero (@miggymont26) from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder Matt Davidson and catcher Tuffy Gosewisch to Triple-A Reno, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Chavez, 35, is hitting .299 (58-for-194) with 13 doubles, 2 triples, 9 home runs and 40 RBI in 62 games for the D-backs. He was on the disabled list with a left knee strain since August 11 (retroactive to August 10). In 3 rehab games with the AZL D-backs from August 22-24, he was 1-for-7 (.143) with a home run and 2 RBI. He was on the disabled list from May 31-June 27 with a strained right oblique.

Montero, 30, is hitting .228 (74-for-325) with 11 doubles, 9 home runs and 34 RBI in 92 games for the D-backs. He has been sidelined with a lower back strain since August 1 (retroactive to July 29). In 6 rehab games with the AZL D-backs from August 17-24, he went 5-for-19 (.263) with 2 doubles and 4 RBI. At the time of his injury, he ranked second in the Majors with 796.1 innings caught, trailing only St. Louis' Yadier Molina (804.1).

Davidson, 22, hit .179 (5-for-28) with 2 RBI in 12 games in his first stint with the D-backs. He made his Major League debut on August 11 vs. Mets, going 1-for-3.

Gosewisch, 29, hit .185 (5-for-27) with 1 RBI in 8 games in his first stint with the D-backs. He made his Major League debut on August 1 @ Rangers, going 1-for-3.
