Cardinals recall reliever Fernando Salas; Tyler Lyons optioned to Memphis (AAA)

The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have recalled right-handed reliever Fernando Salas from Memphis (AAA) and optioned left-handed pitcher Tyler Lyons to the triple-A club.

Salas has appeared in 19 games for the Cardinals this season, going 0-2 with a 4.79 ERA in 20.2 innings pitched. The 28-year-old Salas was on the 15-day disabled list from May 21 to June 25 due to right shoulder inflammation.

At Memphis, Salas has compiled a 1-2 won-loss record and a 1.90 ERA with 12 saves in his 22 games pitched (23.2 IP). In 10 appearances (11.0 IP) during the month of August, Salas has saved 8 games for Memphis to go along with a 1.64 ERA.

Lyons, who started last night's game for the Cardinals, is 2-4 in 9 games (8 games started) for St. Louis. The rookie lefty is 7-2, 3.39 ERA in 16 games started for Memphis this season.
