A's Reinstate RHP Colón from DL; Option RHP Scribner to Sacramento

The Oakland Athletics have reinstated right-handed pitcher Bartolo Colón from the 15-day disabled list and optioned right-handed pitcher Evan Scribner to Triple-A Sacramento, the team announced today.

Colón is 14-5 with a 2.97 ERA in 24 starts this season and is scheduled to make the 400th start of his career today. He was placed on the 15-day DL August 18 retroactive to August 14 with a strained left groin. Colón is tied for second in the American League in wins and tied for fifth in ERA. He has set an Oakland record for wins by a 40-year-old and his 14 wins are his most since 2005 when he went 21-8 for the Angels and won the AL Cy Young.

Scribner has no decisions and a 5.03 ERA in 13 relief appearances over four stints with the A's. He was on the A's Opening Day roster and logged a 4.26 ERA in eight relief appearances before his first option April 20. Scribner appeared in four games during his second stint from April 30 to May 9, one game during his third stint from August 3 to 8 and did not appear in a game after being recalled for his most recent stint August 26. He is 3-1 with one save, a 2.32 ERA and .199 opponents batting average in 29 relief appearances with the River Cats.
