Chicago Cubs unveil logo to celebrate 100 years of Wrigley Field

Brandon Ort of New Bremen, OH, was recognized pregame for submitting the winning design in the "Wrigley Field turns 100" logo contest

The Chicago Cubs today unveiled the logo to celebrate 100 years of Wrigley Field in 2014. Brandon Ort of New Bremen, Ohio, submitted the winning design for the "Wrigley Field Turns 100" logo contest before this season. The team received more than 1,200 submissions and Brandon's design, along with three other finalists, were posted on www.cubs.com for fans to cast their vote. Brandon was recognized during an on-field logo unveiling before today's game.

The official Wrigley Field 100th logo will be featured as a patch on the team's home uniforms next season and on a variety of items, including collectible promotional items, memorabilia and commemorative baseballs at Wrigley Field. Examples of the stamped baseballs, jersey and patch will be on display at the Cubs Authentics kiosk in Wrigley Field's main concourse starting today through the remainder of the homestand.

Beginning this afternoon, fans will also find official Wrigley Field 100th merchandise in special sections of Wrigley Field Gift Shops and The Cubs Store on Clark Street. More than 30 different apparel styles will feature the Wrigley Field 100th logo, including hats, T-shirts, polo shirts and sweatshirts, as well as novelty items such as key chains, glassware, pins and pennants. Additionally, Chicago Cubs Charities has introduced a limited-edition Wrigley Field 100th Christopher Radko ornament. Each ornament is made of hand-blown glass, hand-painted and includes the production number of the ornament purchased from the series. Ornaments are available beginning this evening for $55 plus shipping and fees at www.cubs.com/ornament, with proceeds benefitting Chicago Cubs Charities.

"We're very excited to unveil our official logo celebrating 100 years of Wrigley Field and to kick off what will be a season-long celebration of the past century at this beautiful ballpark," said Alison Miller, senior director, Marketing. "Our fans will want to be here to remember and possibly re-experience many of the historic moments that occurred at Wrigley Field."

Throughout the 2014 season, the Cubs will celebrate 100 years of Wrigley Field with exciting promotions, events and collectible memorabilia. Additional details will be revealed later this offseason, and attendees of the 2014 Cubs Convention will get a first look at many aspects of the planned celebration January 17-19.

"I am excited and completely honored to have my 'Wrigley Field Turns 100' logo design selected to represent this historic ballpark in its 100th year," said winning designer Brandon Ort. "Creating the design that will be a part of Cubs and Wrigley Field history is incredibly humbling and serves as a benchmark in my career. What better way to celebrate than to watch a game at Wrigley Field today with close friends and family."

As the winning designer, Brandon and his guests were invited to today's game on the team's behalf to be honored in a pregame logo unveiling ceremony, where he received a personalized 2014 jersey featuring a patch with his winning logo.
