Rangers reach three million in home attendance for second straight season
Michael Taft of Keller chosen as 3,000,000th fan
ARLINGTON, Texas-The Texas Rangers reached the three million mark in home attendance for the second consecutive season on Thursday. It is the first two seasons in franchise history that the club has had a home attendance of over three million fans.
Tonight's paid attendance of 26,198 increased the Rangers' 2013 season total in 78 home dates to 3,019,430. The Rangers are the eighth team in the majors to reach 3,000,000 fans in 2013, joining the New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, and Los Angeles Angels among A.L. clubs. Texas' average home attendance of 38,711 ranks as second best in the American League and fifth highest in the majors in 2013.
Michael Taft of Keller was randomly selected as he entered the park this evening as the "three millionth fan." Mr. Patterson is attending tonight's game with his wife Robin, son Xavier, and daughter Sophie. They received four tickets to the Rangers 2014 home opener on Monday, March 31 vs. Philadelphia and each family member also received a gift card for the Majestic Grand Slam Gift Shop. The Tafts were recognized in an on-field ceremony with Rangers CEO Nolan Ryan in the bottom of the sixth inning.
