2014 Dr Pepper Texas Rangers Awards Dinner set for January 24; Martin Perez named Rangers Rookie of the Year

After a two-year hiatus, the Dr Pepper Texas Rangers Awards Dinner is returning in 2014, it was announced today. The event will take will take place on Friday, January 24 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine.

Tickets for the dinner, which will honor a number of baseball personalities and feature appearances by Texas Rangers past and present, went on sale today at www.texasrangers.com/awards.

Among the honorees will be left-handed pitcher Martin Perez, who was announced today as the Texas Rangers 2013 Rookie of the Year in voting conducted by the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America. Perez was 10-6 with a 3.62 ERA in 20 starts after joining the rotation in late June and set a club record for victories by a rookie left-hander. His win total matched the most by any American League rookie while his ERA was second lowest among the league's first-year pitchers with at least 100.0 innings. Perez also ranked third among A.L. rookies in starts and innings (124.1). He won six consecutive decisions from August 5-September 3, the longest winning streak for a Texas pitcher in 2013.     

Other award recipients will be announced in the upcoming weeks, including the Rangers 2013 Player and Pitcher of the Year.

Tickets for the Dr Pepper Awards Dinner are priced at $75.00 each with tables of ten available for $750.00. Net proceeds benefit the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. The dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m. with the reception starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center is located at 1501 Gaylord Trail in Grapevine. The event will take place in the Texas Ballroom.
