D-backs select the contracts of Ender Inciarte and Bo Schultz

Designate Tony Sipp for Assignment

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) have selected the contracts of outfielder Ender Inciarte (@Enderdavid18) and right-handed pitcher Bo Schultz (@SchultzBo) from Triple-A Reno and designated left-handed pitcher Tony Sipp for assignment, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Inciarte, 23, spent the majority of 2013 with Double-A Mobile, hitting .281 (133-for-473) with 17 doubles, 5 home runs, 25 RBI and 43 stolen bases and was named to the Southern League midseason All-Star Team. He was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2012 Rule 5 Draft but was returned to the D-backs on April 4 without appearing in a Major League game.

Inciarte is a career .282 hitter (608-for-2,153) with 98 doubles, 26 triples, 10 home runs, 160 RBI and 154 stolen bases in 6 Minor League seasons in the D-backs' organization. The Venezuela native was signed by Arizona as a non-drafted free agent on May 25, 2008.

Schultz, 28, combined to go 5-6 with 1 save and a 3.35 ERA (39 ER in 104.2 IP) in 37 games (16 starts) with Triple-A Reno and Double-A Mobile last season. He posted a 2.96 ERA (27 ER in 82.0 IP) and a .208 average against as a starting pitcher, and went 2-0 with a 0.66 ERA (1 ER in 13.2 IP) in 3 postseason starts with the BayBears.

Over 6 Minor League seasons in the Oakland A's (2008-11) and D-backs' (2012-13) organizations, Schultz has gone 27-21 with 14 saves and a 3.75 ERA (168 ER in 402.2 IP) in 208 games (27 starts). He was signed by Arizona as a Minor League free agent on March 8, 2012.

Sipp, 30, was 3-2 with a 4.78 ERA (20 ER in 37.2 IP) in 56 games with Arizona in 2013. He was acquired by the D-backs in a three-team trade with the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians on Dec. 20, 2012.

The D-backs' 40-man roster is now at 40.
