Indians Invite LHP Mike Zagurski to Major League camp

The Cleveland Indians today signed free agent LHP MIKE ZAGURSKI to a Minor League contract with a non-roster invite to Major League spring training camp.

Zagurski, 30, split time in the Yankees, Pirates and Athletics organizations in 2013, compiling a combined Triple-A record of 6-3 with 2 saves and a 3.04 ERA in 45 relief appearances (53.1IP, 44H, 18ER, 24BB, 83K), averaging 14.0 strikeouts per 9.0IP. He also appeared in 7 games in the Major Leagues with Pittsburgh and New York-AL (17.05ERA, 6.1IP, 11H, 12R/ER). He began his professional career in 2005 in the Phillies organization after being selected in the 12th round of the amateur draft out of the University of Kansas. He has appeared in 89 Major League games over parts of 5 seasons with Philadelphia, Arizona, Pittsburgh and New York-AL (7.05ERA) and owns a combined Minor League career ERA of 3.16 (279G, 358.2IP, 286H, 126ER, 455K).
