Luhnow to be guest on Astroline Thursday

Hall of Fame Broadcaster Milo Hamilton hosts weekly show

HOUSTON, TX - Houston Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow will be the guest on Astroline tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 5 for the second installment of the offseason radio program. The show will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. from Pluckers Wing Bar (1400 Shepherd Dr.) on SportsTalk 790 KBME. The show is open to the public and will also be streamed online at Astros.com.

Hall of Fame broadcaster and the "Voice of the Astros" Milo Hamilton, who celebrated his 69th year on the airwaves during Thanksgiving week, serves as the host of Astroline, and will do so for most of the remaining 14 segments this offseason.

Fans can submit questions to the show via Twitter at twitter.com/astros before and during the show. Fans may also post questions on the Astros Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Astros. As always, fans will also have the option to call the show with questions at 713-212-5790.

Astroline, which is presented by Budweiser, will be broadcast live weekly from 7-8 p.m. CT during the offseason. The show will rotate between KTRH 740 AM and their sister station KBME 790 AM.

Luhnow and his staff are currently preparing for the Annual Baseball Winter Meetings, which will be held in Orlando, FL from Dec. 9-12. Yesterday, the Astros made their first significant move of the offseason and acquired OF Dexter Fowler and a player to be named later from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for OF Brandon Barnes and RHP Jordan Lyles. Since being named Astros GM during the 2011 Winter Meetings, Luhnow has made several trades and overseen two successful amateur drafts all while emphasizing the Astros long-term plan to rebuild through a strong farm system.

Hamilton began his Hall of Fame radio career as a disc jockey on the Armed Forces Radio Network during Thanksgiving week in 1945 and retired from the Astros radio booth at the end of the 2012 season, which was his 28th with the Astros and his 59th year broadcasting Major League Baseball. Although he retired from calling games, Hamilton has remained active with the Astros and continues to host charity events, while making select appearances on game broadcasts.
