Braves agree to terms with Pitcher Brandon Beachy

The Atlanta Braves have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Brandon Beachy on a one-year contract for the 2014 season.

Beachy, who underwent "Tommy John" surgery in June 2012, returned to action in 2013 and made five starts for the Braves, going 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA. He fanned 23 batters and walked just four in 30 innings of work. In 46 career games (all starts), Beachy owns a record of 14-11 with a 3.23 ERA and a 9.25 strikeout-to-walk ratio (275 strikeouts against 86 walks) in 267.2 innings pitched.

The Braves now have seven remaining arbitration-eligible players on their 40-man roster who are unsigned for the upcoming season - right-handed pitchers Craig Kimbrel and Kris Medlen, left-handed pitcher Mike Minor, first baseman Freddie Freeman, infielder Chris Johnson and outfielders Jason Heyward and Jordan Schafer.
