Shane Victorino undergoes successful right thumb surgery

BOSTON -- Red Sox right fielder Shane Victorino today underwent successful nerve release surgery on his right thumb.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Thomas Graham in Cleveland, OH.

Victorino is expected to be ready to participate in Red Sox spring training.
