He finished the season strong, hitting an AL-best .357 in September while leading the Majors in hits for the month with 41, the latter being the third-highest total in franchise history for September. Altuve also finished the season strong defensively, committing just one error in his 69 games (all starts) after the All-Star Break. He will enter 2014 riding a 41-game errorless streak.

Hamilton began his Hall of Fame radio career as a disc jockey on the Armed Forces Radio Network during Thanksgiving week in 1945. He retired from the Astros radio booth at the end of the 2012 season, which was his 28th with the Astros and his 59th year broadcasting Major League Baseball. Although he retired from calling games, Hamilton has remained active with the Astros and continues to host charity events, while making select appearances on game broadcasts.
