Royals agree to terms with Greg Holland on one-year contract for 2014

The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with right-handed pitcher Greg Holland for the 2014 season, avoiding arbitration. Consistent with club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Holland, 28, enjoyed one of the best seasons ever by a Royals relief pitcher, going 2-1 with a club record 47 saves in 2013, while recording a 1.21 ERA. The right-handed hurler was selected to the American League All-Star team and was also named the Bruce Rice Pitcher of the Year by the Kansas City Chapter of the BBWAA. Holland tallied 101 strikeouts in 67.0 innings last season - the second-most by a Royals reliever.

The signing of Holland leaves the Royals with no other unsigned arbitration eligible players for 2014.
