Jimmy Wynn to be tonight's guest on Astroline

HOUSTON, TX - Former Astros outfielder and current community outreach executive Jimmy Wynn will be tonight's guest on Astroline, which will mark the shows 11th broadcast of the offseason.

The show will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. from Pluckers Wing Bar (1400 Shepherd Dr., 77007) on Sports Talk 790 KBME. The show is open to the public and will be streamed online at Astros.com.

Hall of Fame broadcaster Milo Hamilton, who celebrated his 69th year on the airwaves during Thanksgiving week, serves as the host of Astroline.

Astroline, which is presented by Budweiser, is broadcast live weekly from 7-8 p.m. CT during the offseason. The show rotates between KTRH 740 AM and their sister station KBME 790 AM.

Wynn spent the first 11 seasons of his 15-year Major League career with the Houston franchise (1963-73), including the first two as a member of the Colt .45's. The two-time All-Star hit 291 home runs during his career, and ranks among the top 10 in almost every significant Astros career hitting category. Despite his small frame (5'9"), Wynn boasted enormous power and a strong throwing arm, earning him the nickname "The Toy Cannon". As a member of the Dodgers in 1974, Wynn played in the World Series and finished fifth in the National League MVP voting after hitting .271 (145x535) with 32 homers, 18 stolen bases and 108 RBI.

In his current role, Wynn is a local member of the Houston community, working closely with the Astros Community Relations Department and local charities. Wynn's No. 24 was officially retired by the Astros on June 25, 2005. On June 24, 2011, the Astros and Minute Maid officially dedicated the Jimmy Wynn Training Center, a state-of-the-art baseball facility located at the Astros Urban Youth Academy in North Houston.

Hamilton began his Hall of Fame radio career as a disc jockey on the Armed Forces Radio Network during Thanksgiving week in 1945. He retired from the Astros radio booth at the end of the 2012 season, which was his 28th with the Astros and his 59th year broadcasting Major League Baseball. Although he retired from calling games, Hamilton has remained active with the Astros and continues to host charity events, while making select appearances on game broadcasts.

GOING TO DISNEY: Beginning March 5, Astroline will be broadcast live from the ESPN Zone restaurant at the Disney Boardwalk in Lake Buena Vista, FL, which is near the Astros Spring Training headquarters in Kissimmee, FL. The Mar. 12 and Mar. 20 shows will also be broadcast from the ESPN Zone.
