MLB Network to televise more than 200 spring training games starting Wednesday, February 26
Schedule Includes Live Baseball Everyday Through March 29; Top 100 Right Now Countdown Series Featuring the Best Players in the Game Continues Tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET
Secaucus, NJ, February 20, 2014 - MLB Network will televise more Spring Training games than ever before as its schedule of more than 200 games begins on Wednesday, February 26 and continues with at least one live game televised each day through March 29. MLB Network will provide the most comprehensive look at all 30 clubs during Spring Training, featuring live matchups of every team including the Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Dodgers on March 8, National League champion St. Louis Cardinals at Washington Nationals on March 9, World Series champion Boston Red Sox against the Tampa Bay Rays on March 10, and Detroit Tigers at New York Yankees on March 12. Top 100 Players Right Now, MLB Network's annual ranking of the best players in the game, continues tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET with players ranked 80-61, followed by players seeded 60-41 at 10:00 p.m. ET. Beginning yesterday with players ranked 100-81, Greg Amsinger, Al Leiter, Dan Plesac and Bill Ripken are counting down the top players in MLB based on player performance over the past several seasons with an emphasis on 2013, projected 2014 performance taking into account players returning from injury and young players expected to break out, base-running, and defensive value. From Yasiel Puig to Gerrit Cole, the Top 100 features 21 players that are 25-years old and younger, seven Cy Young Award winners, five AL and five NL MVP Award winners, 14 Rookie of the Year winners and 33 Gold Glove winners. The countdown concludes tomorrow, February 21 with the rankings for players 40-21 at 9:00 p.m. ET and the top 20 players in baseball revealed at 10:00 p.m. ET.
The entire Top 100 Players Right Now series will be made available through video on demand with distributors nationwide including AT&T U-verse, Cablevision, Comcast, DISH Network and Verizon FiOS. Each Spring Training game televised on MLB Network will be a carriage of local telecasts, including local announcers, and blacked out in each club's home market unless otherwise noted.
