White Sox bring back 1983 throwback jerseys as a permanent uniform

Team will wear retro-inspired 1983 'Batterman' caps with the uniforms; uniforms will be showcased during select games at U.S. Cellular Field

The Chicago White Sox will bring back the 1983 throwback jerseys as one of the team's permanent uniforms and wear during select games at home. The jerseys will feature the iconic red, navy blue and primary white pullover jersey with the block "S-O-X" across the chest, and a vintage patch on the left sleeve, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the All-Star Game, which was played at Old Comiskey Park. The throwback uniforms also will include a new retro-inspired version of the tri-color cap, with the new version featuring the popular "batterman" logo from the 1970s and 1980s.

"The positive reaction from White Sox fans and team members was undeniable last season," said Brooks Boyer, White Sox senior vice president of sales and marketing. "We are proud to make the 1983 uniform a permanent part of the White Sox look and we are sure that the iconic 'Winning Ugly' jersey, along with the new retro-style 'batterman' cap, will be favorites for a new generation of Sox fans."

The 1983 throwback jersey and retro caps will be available for purchase at the Chicago Sports Depot at U.S. Cellular Field throughout the season.

Individual-game tickets to all 2014 White Sox home games at U.S. Cellular Field will be available on Friday, February 28 at 10 a.m. at whitesox.com/Tickets and by phone at (866) SOX-GAME.
