Known by many of his fans as the "King of Bachata," Santos released his latest studio album, Formula, Vol. 2, worldwide on February 25. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's "Top Latin Albums" chart, establishing the genre's largest sales week over the last eight years. The Bronx native's previous studio album, Formula, Vol. 1, received a 2013 Grammy nomination for Best Tropical Album and was the first Latin musical release in the last 18 years to produce five No. 1 singles.

The current Yankee Stadium has hosted some of the biggest names in music, while taking its place as one of the most important venues on the worldwide concert circuit. Last year, JAY Z and Justin Timberlake played at Yankee Stadium on July 19 and 20, during their Legends of Summer tour. In 2012, Madonna's MDNA world tour made two stops at Yankee Stadium on September 6 and 8, and Roger Waters, co-founder and principal songwriter of Pink Floyd, brought his production of The Wall to the Stadium on July 6 and 7. Other musical artists to perform at the venue include legendary Beatle Paul McCartney on July 15 and 16, 2011, Metallica on September 14, 2011, and Eminem on September 13 and 14, 2010.
