Cardinals set 2014 Opening Day roster

Reliever Neshek added to roster; Ellis, Garcia & Motte DLed

CINCINNATI, Ohio, March 30, 2014 - The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have set their 25-man Opening Day roster. The Cardinals open their 123rd season of play in the National League tomorrow (Monday, March 31) at 3:10 p.m. CDT when they meet the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Adam Wainwright has been tabbed by Manager Mike Matheny as the Cardinals Opening Day starter.

The Cardinals purchased the contract of non-roster pitcher Pat Neshek today and placed infielder Mark Ellis (left knee patella tendinitis) and pitchers Jaime Garcia (left shoulder) and Jason Motte (right elbow) on the 15-day disabled list. Ellis' move is retroactive to March 27 and the moves for both Garcia and Motte are retroactive to March 21.

The Cardinals 25-man Opening Day roster is as follows:
