Royals announce Play It Forward contest

Bracket-Style Contest Allows Fans to Choose Kauffman Stadium's Sixth Inning Song

KANSAS CITY, MO (April 1, 2014) - The Kansas City Royals are asking fans to help select the 2014 sixth inning sing-along song at Kauffman Stadium through the Play It Forward contest, presented by the Missouri Lottery.

During the offseason, fans were able to submit nominations for a sixth inning song via the club's social media platforms. 32 popular tracks have been selected for the bracket-style contest, including "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks. The first-round matchups have been determined alphabetically by song title. During each home game beginning with the home opener on Friday, April 4 and running through Saturday, June 7, fans will be able to text to vote for one of two songs featured each game.

The two songs for each particular game, as well as instructions on how to vote, will be announced during pregame. KMBZ Radio's afternoon show "Dana & Parks" hosts Dana Wright and Scott Parks will team up with the Royals to introduce the competing songs on Kauffman Stadium's CrownVision. Please note that fans must be in the ballpark to vote and will be limited to one vote per game. The winning song for each game will be played in the middle of the sixth inning and will advance to the next round until the winning song is revealed on June 7. "Dana & Parks" will follow the progress of the bracket each day during their afternoon show on KMBZ 98.1 FM, and fans can also follow the progress at www.royals.com/playitforward.

The winning song of the Play It Forward contest presented by the Missouri Lottery will then be played during the sixth inning of each remaining 2014 home game.
