Rickie Weeks and Brewers Community Foundation to present $50,000 donation to the Center for Resilient Cities

MILWAUKEE - Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks, along with Brewers Community Foundation, will present a $50,000 gift to The Center for Resilient Cities at noon on Tuesday, April 15 as a part of the Downtown Rotary meeting at the War Memorial Center (750 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive).

The gift will fund the restoration of a T-Ball field at Johnsons Park (1919 W. Fond Du Lac Ave.), a key initiative of The Center for Resilient Cities. The Johnsons Park Initiative promotes a mix of recreational activities through renovation of the park's features and facilities.

Weeks and Brewers Community Foundation Executive Director Cecelia Gore will represent the Brewers at the meeting tomorrow, and media are invited to attend. The presentation will take place at noon.

"We are excited to continue our support for this important initiative," Gore said. "For the last five years, Brewers Community Foundation has been involved in revitalization efforts in this neighborhood. Center for Resilient Cities and Downtown Rotary should be proud of the significant accomplishments made to improve the quality of life in our City."

The Center for Resilient Cities is a nonprofit that practices sustainable community development, working with neighbors to build communities that are good for people and good for the environment. Their process starts by asking neighbors about values, needs and priorities of the community. They then lend expertise and develop partnerships to address both current and future challenges in neighborhoods.
