First of four peanut controlled games at Safeco Field

First peanut controlled game of 2014 season is Sunday, April 27 vs. Texas Rangers

Once again this season, the Seattle Mariners will designate sections of Safeco Field for select games so that individuals and families of those who live with severe peanut allergies can attend games with a reduced risk of exposure to allergens.

The first of the four Peanut Controlled games is Sunday, April 27, as the Mariners take on the Texas Rangers. Game time is 1:10pm. Deadline to buy tickets is Friday at 5pm.

The special price for all games is $11 for View Box seats. Tickets in the special seating sections can only be purchased online at www.mariners.com/nopeanuts.

The other three peanut controlled dates are:

  • Saturday, June 28 vs. Cleveland Indians, 7:10pm start
  • Tuesday, July 22 vs. New York Mets, 7:10pm start
  • Friday, August 8 vs. Chicago White Sox, 7:10pm start

In the special seating sections (Sections 313, 314, 315), no peanuts or peanut products will be permitted. Only those fans who agree to abide by the peanut ban will be allowed to purchase tickets or be present in the seating sections. Concession stands closest to the seating sections will not sell any food with peanut products as ingredients. These seating sections will be thoroughly cleaned prior to the game to remove as many traces of peanuts as possible.

It should be noted that peanut-controlled does not mean peanut-free. Safeco Field is an open-air ballpark, and peanuts will be present in other areas of the ballpark. Fans with peanut allergies should take all precautions that they customarily take in public places. It is estimated that 12 million Americans have food allergies, three million of them children.
