Joe Mauer & Dave Winfield to co-host 2nd annual Players Trust Golf Tournament

Major Leaguers to raise funds for Minnesota children's charities with tournament at Windsong Farm Golf Club the day after the 85th MLB All-Star Game

New York, NY - Six-time All-Star, Joe Mauer and Hall of Famer, Dave Winfield, both Minnesota natives, are joining forces with the Major League Baseball Players Trust to raise funds for area children's charities, when they co-host the second annual Players Trust All Star Golf Tournament at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, MN on Wednesday, July 16.

During a week in which the Twin Cities will become the center of the baseball universe, golfers and baseball fans alike will be able to combine two of America's greatest passions for an unforgettable day on one of the area's most prestigious golf courses. Already scheduled to join Dave and Joe in their efforts to help children in need are former big leaguers Hall of Famer, Paul Molitor, Al Newman, Bobby Bonilla, Steve Rogers, Jose Cruz Jr. and Rick Helling. Additional players joining the cause will be announced on an ongoing basis.

"Co-hosting the Players Trust All Star Golf Tournament with Dave Winfield is an honor, and I look forward to working with Dave and other members of the baseball player fraternity to raise funds to support child-related causes," stated Mauer. "I encourage our fellow Minnesotans to join us for what's sure to be a fun and memorable day at Windsong Farm Golf Club."

"I'm thrilled to be coming home to the Twin Cities to celebrate the game of baseball, and to team with Joe Mauer in hosting the Players Trust's second annual All Star Golf Tournament," said Winfield. "The Tournament is going to be the perfect way to wind down the week's festivities, as we gather for a great day of golf, storytelling and, of course, a chance to help improve the lives of children in need."

The Players Trust All Star Golf Tournament is part of the non-profit's fund-raising programming efforts. Each off-season for the past 10 years, the Trust has hosted a tournament on some of the country's most exclusive golf courses, such as Torrey Pines in La Jolla, CA and Scottsdale TPC and Grayhawk Golf Club in Arizona. Last season, the Trust hosted its first All Star Golf Tournament, when Ike Davis, then of the NY Mets and David Robertson of the NY Yankees, co-hosted a star-studded event on the notorious Black Course in Bethpage, Long Island, to benefit Superstorm Sandy victims. To date, the Trust has raised more than $1 million for various causes through its golf events.

Players Trust All Star Golf Tournament participation levels begin with the $6,000 Single, which includes one foursome with a celebrity pairing, a unique, gift-filled SWAG bag and photo for each golfer. Double, Triple and Home Run sponsorship levels are also available, and each includes tickets to the Trust's exclusive 2014 Major League Baseball All-Star Game television viewing party to be held the night before the golf tournament and attended by many of the celebrity golfers. Portions of the costs are tax deductible.
