Twins will select contract of Matt Guerrier

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced tonight that they will select the contract of right-handed pitcher Matt Guerrier prior to tomorrow's game in Cleveland. He appeared in seven games between Double-A New Britain and Triple-A Rochester, posting a 4.00 ERA (9.0 IP, 4 ER) with four walks and eight strikeouts. The 35-year-old made his major league debut with the Twins in 2004 and went 19-25, 3.38 ERA (472.0 IP, 177 ER) in 393 career games with Minnesota and still ranks fifth on the club's all-time list in appearances. He will wear uniform number 54.

To make room for Guerrier on the 25-man roster, the Twins have optioned Logan Darnell to Triple-A Rochester. Darnell, who was recalled on Friday, appeared in one game with the Twins tossing 3.0 scoreless innings Tuesday night vs. Cleveland.
