Quote excerpts from Strawberry include:

On growing up in Los Angeles and dreaming of playing for the Dodgers: "My sisters laughed at me and they go, 'You're out of your mind.' I said, 'No, this here that I'm watching on TV, these Dodgers, I'm going to play for them some day.'"

On playing in New York: "The pressure of playing in New York is totally different than anywhere else…As I grew as a young man playing in New York, [I realized that] if you cannot deal with the negative, they will run you out of town."

On coming to LA: "Then all of a sudden I got hurt…I hurt myself the next year in my back, and I didn't deal with it well. I didn't cope well. I started spinning off into life…I don't really have anything to hide."

On his substance abuse problems: "I got trapped up in a life that I would hope a young player would never get trapped in - into the drugs of life."

On overcoming his problems: "Over the past three years of my life, there's been a real transformation - that I got a free gift."
