Royals to honor Jeter prior to series finale

Club Offers Special Ticket Deal for June 9 Game; Royals Charities Makes $10,000 Donation to Turn 2 Foundation as Part of Festivities

KANSAS CITY, MO (May 28, 2014) - The Kansas City Royals will recognize the stellar playing career of New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter prior to the series finale between the two teams on Monday, June 9. The game marks the last regular-season contest at Kauffman Stadium for Jeter, who is retiring at the end of the 2014 season.

A special Dynamic Deal featuring 45 percent savings for the June 9 game is now available, as the Royals are offering Hy-Vee Infield tickets for just $20. Fans can take advantage of this special offer and see the salute to Jeter by purchasing tickets at www.royals.com/dynamicdeals

Royals Charities, the charitable arm of the Royals, will present Jeter with a $10,000 donation to his Turn 2 Foundation during a special pregame ceremony, which will feature a video tribute to the Yankees captain.

During his rookie year in 1996, Jeter established the Turn 2 Foundation to promote healthy lifestyles among youth. While sharing a pizza in a Detroit hotel room, Derek announced to his father that he was ready to establish his own foundation. Then and there, they laid the plans for Turn 2. The name "Turn 2" is symbolic of the dramatic double play made by infielders during a game. It also represents Jeter's wish to promote healthy lifestyles among young people and enable them to "Turn 2" his foundation for guidance and the much needed help to avoid drugs and alcohol.
