Rangers Place Ogando on DL; Recall Poreda

Poreda scheduled to be available for tonight's game against Baltimore

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced today that the club has placed right-handed pitcher Alexi Ogando on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation. To take his place on the active roster, the team has recalled left-handed pitcher Aaron Poreda from Triple-A Round Rock.

Ogando has gone 2-3 with a 6.84 ERA (19 ER/25.0 IP) in 27 relief outings for the Rangers this season. He ranks 10th in the American League with 27 appearances. The first date he would be eligible to return from the disabled list is June 19.

Poreda will be in his second stint with the Rangers this season, as he was also with the club from April 18-May 27. He has gone 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA (5 ER/13.1 IP) in 15 relief appearances for Texas this season, and began his Rangers career with 9 consecutive scoreless appearances in his first major league action since 2009. His last outing with Texas was May 27 at Minnesota, when he struck out his only batter faced. Poreda has pitched twice for Round Rock since he was optioned on May 28, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings, as opponents have gone 0-for-8 with 4 strikeouts at Triple-A. He pitched in last night's game vs. Omaha (1.0 IP, 1 SO, 9 pitches/7 strikes).

With today's moves, the Rangers still have a full 40-man roster.
