Gordon, Davis named Royals Player, Pitcher of the Month for May

KANSAS CITY, MO (June 4, 2014) - The Kansas City Royals announce that left fielder Alex Gordon is the Royals Majestic Player of the Month for May, while right-handed reliever Wade Davis is the club's Pitcher of the Month. The player award is determined by a combined fan and media vote, with the pitcher award voted on by local media.

Gordon led the Royals in hits, walks and RBI while tying for the team lead in runs. He was 4-for-4 on May 18 against Baltimore, tying career highs in hits, runs (three) and home runs (two) while setting a career-best with six RBI.

Davis won all three decisions in May, striking out 19 batters over 12.0 scoreless innings. Opponents batted .079, lowest in the Majors among pitchers with at least 12.0 innings of work.

Fans have the opportunity to vote for the Royals Majestic Player of the Month throughout the season by visiting area Kansas Sampler and Rally House locations or the Royals Majestic Team Store at Kauffman Stadium.
