Mariners sign second Draft pick outfielder Gareth Morgan

Morgan was three-year member of Canadian Junior National Team

SEATTLE, Wash. -- The Seattle Mariners have signed outfielder Gareth Morgan from North York in Toronto (Ontario) Canada, the club's second selection (74th overall pick) in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, Director of Amateur Scouting Tom McNamara announced today.

Morgan, 18, is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder. He has played both right field and center field during his high school career. He is scheduled to report to the AZL Mariners in the Arizona Rookie League.

Gareth is a member of the Canadian Junior National Team, and has also played with the Langley Blaze travel team.

The teams played games against professional minor league clubs in Florida and Arizona during spring training.

Morgan and the Canadian Junior National team recently returned from playing eight games against professional teams in the Dominican Summer League.
