Mike Pelfrey underwent successful surgery

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced tonight that right-handed pitcher Mike Pelfrey had successful right elbow ulnar nerve decompression surgery. The surgery took place today in Pensacola, Fla., by Dr. James Andrews.

Pelfrey originally went on a rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A to recover from a groin injury, but was returned from his assignment after experiencing numbness and tingling in his right fingers. At that point it was discovered he had ulnar nerve irritation. Pelfrey has been on the disabled list since May 2.
