A's agree to terms with 18 players from First-Year Player Draft

The Oakland A's agreed to terms with 18 players from the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, including their 2nd round selection, right-handed pitcher Daniel Gossett from Clemson, and their 4th round pick, right-handed pitcher Jordan Schwartz from Niagara. Also agreeing to terms were right-handed pitcher Branden Kelliher (8th round, Lake Stevens HS), left-handed pitcher Mike Fagan (9th, Princeton), right-handed pitcher Corey Miller (10th, Pepperdine), right-handed pitcher Joel Seddon (11th, South Carolina), second baseman Max Kuhn (13th, Kentucky), third baseman Jose Brizuela (16th, Florida State), left-handed pitcher Michael Nolan (18th, Oklahoma City), right-handed pitcher Koby Guana (20th, Cal State Fullerton), right-handed pitcher Brendan McCurry (22nd, Oklahoma State), right-handed pitcher Dawson Brown (24th, West Florida), right-handed pitcher Rob Huber (26th, Duke), center fielder J.P. Sportman (27th, Central Connecticut State), right-handed pitcher Corey Walter (28th, West Virginia), left-handed pitcher Cody Stull (29th, Belmont Abbey), left-handed pitcher Derek Beasley (30th, South Carolina-Aiken) and first baseman John Nogowski (34th, Florida State).

Gossett went 7-2 with a 1.93 ERA in 15 games, all starts, for Clemson this season. He struck out 107 while walking 30 in 107.1 innings and was a First Team All-ACC performer in 2014. Schwartz went 5-6 with a 3.12 ERA for Niagara this season, and finished with 109 strikeouts and just 35 walks. He was named a Second Team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference performer.
