A's Place IF Callaspo on Paternity List; Recall IF Parrino from Sacramento

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's placed infielder Alberto Callaspo on the paternity list and recalled infielder Andy Parrino from Triple-A Sacramento, the club announced today.

Parrino was with the A's this spring before he was claimed off waiver by Texas March 3. He began the season at Triple-A Round Rock and was batting .189 in 13 games when he claimed off waivers by the A's April 21 and optioned to Sacramento. The 28-year-old switch hitter then hit .344 with three home runs and 24 RBI in 44 games with the River Cats and had the third best batting average in the Pacific Coast League since April 21. Parrino added 21 walks for a .411 on-base percentage and was hitting .310 in 57 games overall at Triple-A. He hit .118 in 14 games with Oakland last year and a .186 hitter in 93 career games in the majors.

Callaspo is batting .218 with three home runs and 20 RBI in 59 games. He went 1 for 28 on the last road trip and is batting .173 with no home runs and five RBI since the beginning of May.
