Rockies Recall LHP Christian Friedrich from Triple-A, Select Contract of RHP Wilton Lopez

Club Options INF/OF Kyle Parker and RHP Chris Martin, OF Michael Cuddyer Transferred to 60-Day DL

DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has recalled left-handed pitcher Christian Friedrich and has selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Wilton Lopez. Additionally, the Rockies have optioned first baseman/outfielder Kyle Parker and right-handed pitcher Chris Martin to Triple-A, and transferred outfielder Michael Cuddyer from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. Both Friedrich (#53) and Lopez (#59) will be available for today's Rockies vs. Brewers game at Coors Field (2:10 p.m. MDT).

Friedrich, 26, is scheduled to start and will be making his season debut for the Rockies after spending the entire season to date with Colorado Springs. Christian has made 13 starts for the Sky Sox going 1-8 with a 7.89 ERA (67.1 ip, 59 er) and allowing two or fewer runs in four starts. Making his Major League debut on May 9, 2012 in San Diego, Friedrich earned the win going 6.0 innings with two runs on five hits and would later go on to compile a 5-8 record with a 6.17 ERA (84.2 ip, 58 er) during the 2012 season. The Rockies first round pick (25th overall) in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft last appeared in the Majors on July 28, 2012 at Cincinnati.

Lopez, 30, is making second stint with the Rockies after opening the year on the Opening Day roster and appearing in four games (6.1 ip, 8 er). In 20 games for Triple-A Colorado Springs he has gone 0-2 with a 4.54 ERA (35.2 ip, 18 er). Over six seasons with the Houston Astros (2009-12) and Colorado Rockies (2013-14) he has appeared in 292 Major League games with two starts. He has gone 16-17 with 11 saves and a 3.54 ERA (305.1 ip, 120 er), 337 hits, 57 walks and 221 strikeouts.

Parker, 24, made his Major League debut on June 16 in Los Angeles after being recalled earlier in the day. In four games with Colorado, he had three pinch-hit appearances (0-for-3) and one start at first base on June 18 at the Dodgers (0-for-3). Parker was originally drafted by the Rockies in the first round (26th overall) of the 2010 First-Year Player draft out of Clemson University.

Martin, 28, has appeared in 16 games for the Rockies with no record, a 6.89 ERA (15.2 ip, 12 er), 4 walks and 14 strikeouts over two stints with the parent club. The 6-foot-7 right-hander was acquired by Colorado, along with left-handed pitcher Franklin Morales, from Boston in exchange for infielder Jonathan Herrera on December 18, 2013. Martin has spent the balance of his season at Triple-A Colorado Springs where in 14 games he has gone 0-1 with a 5.52 ERA (14.2 ip, 9 er), 5 walks and 21 strikeouts.

Cuddyer, 35, was originally placed on the disabled list on June 9 (retroactive to June 6) with left shoulder inflammation before x-rays revealed a fractured left shoulder. In 31 games this year, Cuddyer has hit .317 (38-for-120) with seven doubles, five home runs, 16 RBI and 16 runs. The Norfolk, VA native has played in 1,401 career games hitting .278 (1399-for-5039) with 307 doubles, 40 triples, 182 home runs, 738 RBI and 749 runs.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
