ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-The Tampa Bay Rays have hired Rafaela A. Amador as Senior Director of Corporate Communications. She will lead the newly formed corporate communications division for the organization.

"Rafaela brings to the Rays organization a wealth of experience and deep knowledge of the Tampa Bay business community," said Rays President Matt Silverman. "She will play a key role in our ongoing efforts to enhance our connectivity throughout the region."

In her new position, Amador will work to increase the visibility of the organization's business and community efforts through effective and strategic communication. She will work across departments to ensure consistency and quality throughout the organization's communications efforts.

Amador most recently served as an account director at Tucker/Hall, one of Florida's leading public relations and public affairs firms where she led client teams in the areas of public affairs, issues management and strategic communications. Prior to Tucker/Hall, Amador served as vice president of public affairs and communications at the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. During that time, she received a Ford Foundation Fellowship for Regional Sustainable Development through the American Chamber of Commerce Executives. She studied ways to support sustainable development efforts through political leadership, regional collaboration and by establishing regional goals and objectives for sustainable development in the Tampa Bay area. Amador also served as an aide to a Florida House elected official earlier in her career.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, her community activities include serving as the Dean of Awesomeness for Awesome Tampa Bay (a local microgrant funding organization), Co-Chair of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the New Leaders Council and Honorary Commander at MacDill Air Force Base.

Amador holds a bachelor's degree in International studies with a Spanish minor and a certificate in Latin American and Caribbean studies from the University of South Florida.
