Marlins Acquire LHP Donnie Joseph

MIAMI - The Miami Marlins today announced the acquisition of LHP Donnie Joseph from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for cash considerations. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations Michael Hill.

Joseph, 26, a reliever, has been assigned to Triple-A New Orleans. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Marlins designated OF Brent Keys for assignment.

Joseph made his Major League debut for Kansas City on July 11, 2013, and made six scoreless appearances for the Club (5.2 IP). He made one appearance for the Royals this season, spending the majority of the campaign with Triple-A Omaha, where he was 1-1 with one save and a 3.86 ERA (25.2 IP/11 ER) in 19 appearances, with 30 strikeouts.
