A's Option LHP Tommy Milone to Triple-A Sacramento

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's optioned left-handed pitcher Tommy Milone to Triple-A Sacramento, the club announced today. The move clears a 25-man roster spot for Jeff Samardzija, who reports to Oakland today after being acquired from the Chicago Cubs. The A's will need to make another move when Jason Hammel reports to Oakland tomorrow.

Milone was 6-3 with a 3.55 ERA and .245 opponents batting average in 16 starts for the A's. After going 0-3 with a 5.86 ERA over his first five starts, he was 6-0 with a 2.62 ERA over his last 11 starts. Milone is 31-22 with a 3.84 ERA in 75 games, 73 starts, in three seasons with the A's.
