Indians acquire OF Chris Dickerson from Pittsburgh; designated C George Kottaras for assignment

CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:

Acquired OF CHRIS DICKERSON (#38) from the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player to be named or cash and selected his contract from the Triple-A Columbus Clippers roster.

Designated C GEORGE KOTTARAS for assignment.

Dickerson, 32, has appeared in 314 Major League games over six seasons from 2008-13 with four different teams since debuting with the Cincinnati Reds in 2008 (was Cincinnati's' 16th round pick in 2003 out of Nevada-Reno). He signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization this past January and has spent the entire season to date with the Indianapolis Indians, hitting .309 (73-236) with 15 2B, 2 2B, 7HR, 30 RBI and 12 steals in 65 games (.407/.479/.886). He currently ranks 3rd in the International League in on-base pct (.407), 5th in OPS (.886) and 8th in batting average (.309).

Dickerson will be in uniform tonight when the Indians take on the New York Yankees in Progressive Field at 7:05 PM ET.
